Quarter Dollar

  • Our coin system is based of the Spanish milled dollars. One dollar could be broken in half making.50 and then broken down again to make a quarter dollar. The Quarter was designed by John Flanagan and was based on a 1786 bust made by sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon. The reverse side has a Bald Eagle.
  • Each coin in the series features a common obverse (heads side) with the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, restored to bring out subtle details and the beauty of the original model. Inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and QUARTER DOLLAR.

CoinTrackers.com has estimated the 1857 S Seated Liberty Quarter value at an average of $46, one in certified mint state (MS+) could be worth $7,792. (see details)...
